Lucky John Arrow Jerk is a lipless hard lure designed primarily for targeting pike in shallow water. Its baitfish-shaped profile and balanced body allow it to produce the wide side-to-side glides associated with classic jerkbaits.
Arrow Jerk is well suited to fishing above submerged weed, across shallow flats, inside bays and close to reeds or other areas where pike ambush baitfish. Its floating construction makes the running depth easier to control and allows the lure to rise during pauses.
Wide glides and variable retrieve speed
Arrow Jerk produces its most distinctive action when worked with short, rhythmic movements of the rod tip while the angler collects the slack line. The lure then travels alternately left and right, showing its flanks and changing direction after each movement.
The width and speed of the glides can be adjusted through the strength and frequency of the rod movements. For shallow flats and fishing above vegetation
The shallow running depth allows Arrow Jerk to be worked above submerged vegetation and through areas where a conventional deep-diving lure would quickly collect weed. Before an obstacle, the lure can be stopped and allowed to rise before the retrieve is continued.
The jerkbait can be used for quickly searching water when pike are active or presented more slowly with longer pauses. Natural finishes suit clear water, while more contrasting patterns can be useful in reduced visibility and overcast conditions.
Two sizes of floating jerkbait
The smaller Arrow Jerk 7F measures 7 cm, weighs 16 g and runs to approximately 50 cm. Its compact size suits lighter tackle and very shallow pike fishing.
The larger Arrow Jerk 10F measures 10 cm, weighs 34 g and runs to approximately 1 m. It creates a more visible profile and covers slightly deeper water while retaining the characteristic gliding action.
A relatively firm rod, braided main line and a pike-resistant leader are recommended for working Arrow Jerk. The tackle should be matched to the weight of the selected model and the intensity of the retrieve.
