Lucky John Basara Plus One is a slim minnow lure designed primarily for zander and pike fishing. Its elongated profile resembles a small baitfish, while the deeper running action makes it suitable for covering areas well below the surface in both rivers and stillwaters.
The 90SP model has neutral buoyancy, allowing it to remain close to the reached depth during pauses. This makes it easier to work the lure slowly and accurately along drop-offs, current seams, deeper flats and other areas where predators wait for passing prey.
Steady retrieves and twitching
Basara Plus One can be worked with a steady retrieve, occasional changes of pace or short twitches. On a constant retrieve, the lure maintains a stable track and allows the angler to search a selected layer of water systematically.
During twitching, short movements of the rod tip make the lure dart and change direction. Pauses between twitches allow the minnow to remain close to the fish-holding area, which can be particularly effective for less active zander and pike following the lure without striking immediately.

In lakes and reservoirs, Basara Plus One is suitable for searching drop-offs, underwater humps and areas where baitfish move into deeper water. The lure can be used effectively from both the bank and a boat.
Casting system and stable balance
An internal system of magnets, moving weights and fixed weights improves the lure’s balance and casting performance. During the cast, the weight shifts towards the rear of the body to help reach distant spots, then returns to its working position once the lure enters the water.
The stable weight distribution helps maintain control during slow retrieves, faster presentations and fishing in current. This is especially useful when targeting deeper channels and distant holding areas that are difficult to reach with lighter minnows.
