Lucky John Silver Shiner is a range of slender 88 mm (3.5 in) minnow lures designed for predator fishing in rivers, lakes and reservoirs. Their compact baitfish profile and stable action make them suitable for pike, zander, perch and asp, including situations where the lure must hold its course in a noticeable current.
An internal magnetic casting system improves the lure’s balance in flight and helps produce long, accurate casts. This is particularly useful when covering broad rivers, open flats, current seams, stone embankments and other areas located well away from the bank.
The range includes two versions with different buoyancy and running depths. Silver Shiner 88SP weighs 12 g, is suspending and reaches approximately 1.8 m. When the retrieve is stopped, it remains in the water column, allowing longer pauses and keeping the lure close to a predator’s holding area.
Silver Shiner 88S weighs 14 g, is sinking and runs to approximately 2.5 m. It is suited to deeper channels, drop-offs and other areas where fish are holding below the reach of typical shallow-running minnows.
Silver Shiner can be retrieved steadily, worked with regular speed changes or animated with short twitches followed by pauses. On a straight retrieve, the lure maintains a stable action, while twitching makes it dart to the sides and imitate a disoriented or escaping baitfish.
The suspending version is well suited to slower presentations and precise coverage of a selected spot. The sinking model offers greater control over depth, as the length of the initial drop can be adjusted to the shape of the venue and the position of the fish.
Lucky John Silver Shiner is available in several colour patterns and fitted with sharp treble hooks. Natural finishes suit clear water and cautious fish, while more contrasting colours can stand out better in low visibility, overcast weather or coloured water.
Lucky John is best known for its wide range of spinning lures designed for perch, zander, pike, trout and other predatory fish. The range includes soft lures, wobblers, inline spinners and spoons that can be matched to different venues, fishing depths and retrieval styles.
Soft lures make up the largest part of the Lucky John range. It includes classic paddle-tail lures, slim profiles for jigging, curly-tail grubs, fork-tail lures, worms and imitations of creatures living close to the bottom. Series such as Tioga, Joco Shaker, S-Shad Tail, Makora, Kubira and Hogy Hog allow anglers to select the right action and size for rivers, lakes and reservoirs.
Lucky John wobblers include small models for trout, chub and perch, as well as larger lures designed for pike and zander. Depending on their construction, they can be retrieved steadily, worked with sharp twitches or used to explore deeper parts of the water column.
The range is complemented by inline spinners and spoons suitable for fishing in current, still waters and trout fisheries. Different sizes and profiles make it possible to choose a lure for slow presentations as well as faster searching retrieves.
Lucky John also offers a limited selection of spinning rods, which form a small addition to the brand’s extensive lure range.
The Lucky John range includes lures for light perch and trout fishing, classic jigging for zander and more powerful spinning for pike. When choosing a lure, it is worth considering the fishing depth, retrieval speed, size of the natural prey and current activity of the fish.
