Lucky John Makora is a series of slim pike minnow lures designed primarily for twitching. The elongated profile imitates a medium-sized baitfish, while the 11 and 13 cm models are well suited to targeting pike in lakes, reservoirs and slower sections of larger rivers.
Makora responds to short movements of the rod tip with pronounced sideways darts and sudden changes of direction. It can be worked aggressively with a sequence of stronger jerks, but it also performs well with slower twitching, longer pauses and a conventional steady retrieve.
Suspending action and effective pauses
Both available models have a suspending action. When the retrieve is stopped, they remain close to the depth already reached, allowing the lure to stay in the strike zone for longer. This is particularly useful when targeting less active pike that follow the lure but do not respond to a fast, continuous retrieve.

For weed edges, drop-offs and deeper flats
Makora is suitable for working along submerged weed edges, drop-offs, underwater rises and deeper flats where pike hunt larger prey. The 110SP runs to approximately 1.5 m, while the larger 130SP reaches around 2 m.
The lures can be fished effectively from both the bank and a boat. Their casting performance helps reach distant holding areas and cover larger sections of water without frequently changing position.
Magnetic Cast System and stable balance
The MCS – Magnetic Cast System improves casting distance and accuracy. This is especially useful with longer minnow lures, which need to remain stable in flight when casting towards weed lines, drop-offs and other distant pike-holding areas.
The lure’s balanced construction also helps maintain predictable behaviour during steady retrieves, twitching and pauses. This makes Makora easy to control when regularly changing retrieve speed and presentation style.
Available Lucky John Makora models
Makora 110SP measures 11 cm, weighs 13 g and reaches a depth of approximately 1.5 m. It is a versatile option for fishing along weed edges, near drop-offs and through medium-depth areas.
Makora 130SP measures 13 cm, weighs 21 g and runs to approximately 2 m. Its larger profile is well suited to selective pike fishing and situations where predators are feeding on larger baitfish.

The range is complemented by inline spinners and spoons suitable for fishing in current, still waters and trout fisheries. Different sizes and profiles make it possible to choose a lure for slow presentations as well as faster searching retrieves.
Lucky John also offers a limited selection of spinning rods, which form a small addition to the brand’s extensive lure range.
