Lucky John Basara is a series of slim minnow lures designed for trout, chub, perch and pike fishing. Sizes from 4 to 9 cm make it possible to match the lure to light river spinning as well as targeting larger predators in lakes and reservoirs.
Basara lures respond precisely to movements of the rod tip, making twitching their main style of presentation. Short jerks cause sudden sideways darts and changes of direction that imitate a weakened or escaping baitfish. The lures can also be retrieved steadily or worked with occasional bursts of speed.

The action of Basara can be adjusted through the strength and frequency of rod movements. Gentle twitches produce shorter darts and work well for cautious fish, while stronger movements create a more aggressive presentation and help cover water more quickly.

For rivers and stillwaters
The smaller Basara models are well suited to river channels, near-bank depressions, current breaks, rocky areas and calmer water behind obstacles. They can be worked downstream, upstream or across the current depending on fish location and flow strength.
In lakes and reservoirs, the larger versions perform well above submerged vegetation, along weed edges, across shallow flats and near drop-offs. The option of using both a steady retrieve and twitching makes it easy to adjust the presentation to the activity of perch and pike.
MCS casting system and stable balance
The MCS – Magnetic Cast System supports correct lure balance and improves casting performance. It helps reach more distant areas and place the lure accurately near rocks, vegetation and other likely predator-holding spots.
Stable weight distribution also helps maintain control during slow retrieves, faster presentations and twitching. This is particularly useful when fishing in current and when frequently changing retrieve speed.
Available Lucky John Basara models
Basara 40SP measures 4 cm, weighs 2.5 g and runs to approximately 0.5 m. Its compact size is suitable for light trout, chub and perch fishing.
Basara 56SP measures 5.6 cm, weighs 3.5 g and reaches a depth of approximately 1 m. It is a versatile option for small and medium-sized rivers as well as shallow areas of lakes.
Basara 70SP measures 7 cm, weighs 5.5 g and runs to approximately 1.2 m. Its larger profile works well for perch, smaller pike and slightly deeper areas.
Basara 90F measures 9 cm, weighs 10 g and runs to approximately 1 m. This floating model is suitable for shallow flats and fishing above submerged vegetation.
Basara 90SP measures 9 cm, weighs 10.5 g and reaches a depth of approximately 1.5 m. Its suspending action and larger profile make it well suited to targeting perch and pike in a deeper layer of water.
