Lucky John Joco Shaker Super Floating is a floating soft shad with a classic baitfish profile, ribbed body and paddle tail. It is made from Floating Soft Plastic System material with a density lower than water, allowing the body to retain a natural tendency to rise above the bottom when rigged appropriately.
The buoyant material affects the position of the lure during pauses. When mounted on a light jig head, offset hook or a rig with the weight separated from the lure, the body does not simply lie flat on the bottom. Instead, it remains raised and more visible to predators, which is particularly useful during slow presentations for zander and pike.
Deep ribs increase the flexibility of the body and strengthen the vibrations produced during the retrieve. The narrowing tail section allows the paddle to start working at low speed, so Joco Shaker can be fished with a steady retrieve or worked with a lift-and-fall presentation close to the bottom.
The soft material compresses easily when a fish takes the lure. According to the manufacturer, it retains its floating properties even after repeated contact with predatory fish, helping the lure maintain its characteristic presentation over a longer period of use.
A mackerel-flavoured attractant is incorporated into the body, while the surface is additionally coated with a liquid scent. This provides an extra stimulus during slow presentations and may encourage fish to hold the lure slightly longer, giving the angler more time to set the hook.
Joco Shaker Super Floating can be rigged on a standard jig head, articulated jig head or offset hook. It is also well suited to Texas and Carolina rigs, where the floating body rises above the weight and remains visible over the bottom, low vegetation and small obstacles.
The range includes two sizes: 89 mm (3.5 in), suitable for zander, larger perch and medium-sized pike, and 114 mm (4.5 in), intended for stronger zander and pike fishing. The smaller version is supplied in packs of 4, while the larger size comes in packs of 3.
After fishing, the lures should be returned to their original packaging. This helps prevent the surface from drying out and allows the baits to be recoated with the scented oil remaining inside the pack.
Lucky John is best known for its wide range of spinning lures designed for perch, zander, pike, trout and other predatory fish. The range includes soft lures, wobblers, inline spinners and spoons that can be matched to different venues, fishing depths and retrieval styles.
Soft lures make up the largest part of the Lucky John range. It includes classic paddle-tail lures, slim profiles for jigging, curly-tail grubs, fork-tail lures, worms and imitations of creatures living close to the bottom. Series such as Tioga, Joco Shaker, S-Shad Tail, Makora, Kubira and Hogy Hog allow anglers to select the right action and size for rivers, lakes and reservoirs.
Lucky John wobblers include small models for trout, chub and perch, as well as larger lures designed for pike and zander. Depending on their construction, they can be retrieved steadily, worked with sharp twitches or used to explore deeper parts of the water column.
The range is complemented by inline spinners and spoons suitable for fishing in current, still waters and trout fisheries. Different sizes and profiles make it possible to choose a lure for slow presentations as well as faster searching retrieves.
Lucky John also offers a limited selection of spinning rods, which form a small addition to the brand’s extensive lure range.
The Lucky John range includes lures for light perch and trout fishing, classic jigging for zander and more powerful spinning for pike. When choosing a lure, it is worth considering the fishing depth, retrieval speed, size of the natural prey and current activity of the fish.
