Lucky John Tioga Hog is a creature-style soft bait combining the features of a small crayfish and a large aquatic insect. Its bulky body, multiple legs, antennae and tail appendages create a detailed profile suited to targeting perch, zander and other predators feeding close to the bottom.
The individual appendages move during the fall, short lifts and slow drags along the bottom. Tioga Hog does not require a fast retrieve and can be presented with short hops, longer pauses and subtle movements in areas where predators search for crayfish and insect larvae.
Its compact body can be rigged on a conventional jig head or an offset hook. Tioga Hog also suits bottom-focused rigs used to work rocky flats, drop-offs, submerged branches and the edges of weed beds.
The smaller 63 mm (2.5 in) model is a good choice for perch and lighter tackle. The 89 mm (3.5 in) version creates a more noticeable profile and is suitable for larger perch, zander and black bass.
