Lucky John Kubira Fire Tail is a large soft lure designed for pike fishing. The bait measures 22.8 cm (9 in) and weighs 85 g (3 oz), creating a prominent profile in the water that is well suited to targeting larger predators.
The broad body rolls from side to side during the retrieve, while the long curved tail produces a wide action and additional vibration. This combination allows the lure to be worked slowly without requiring a fast or aggressive retrieve.
Kubira Fire Tail is suitable for steady retrieves through open water, slow fishing around vegetation and working along drop-offs or deeper flats. Short pauses and changes of speed help keep the large lure close to a likely pike holding area for longer.
For shallow-water fishing, the lure can be rigged with a screw-in attachment and a stinger system. When targeting deeper areas, it can be combined with an articulated Flexhead-style weight and a treble-hook rig.
